Gasol dominates, Spain hands Lithuania first loss

Two words.

Pau Gasol.

The Spanish big man had a field day against Domantas Sabonis and the Lithuanian team, dominating en route to a 109-59 victory to give Lithuania their first loss so far in the Olympics.

The loss makes Team USA (4-0) the only undefeated team left in the tournament.

The Lithuanian front line had no answer for Pau Gasol, who scored 23 points in 23 minutes on nine shots, and was 5/5 from behind the three-point arc. Gasol also had 5 assists.

Lithuania, which trailed by as much as 50, got down early and couldn’t recover. They missed over half of their three-point shots and seemed out of sorts for the entire game. They turned the ball over eight times in the first quarter alone, and finished with

Sabonis scored five points on 2-of-7 shooting, while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out two assists in 24 minutes of play.

Alex Abrines didn’t play at all for Spain

Lithuania plays one more game group play against Croatia on Monday. They need to win that game to still have a chance at winning first place in Group B. The game is at 8:30 p.m. Thunder Time.
