We’ve been ranking the Thunder roster, 1-15. Each day we’ve revealed a new ranking and a player. We’d enjoy your feedback by using the hashtag “#ThunderRank” on Facebook or Twitter. Alright, alright, you’re all waiting.. here it is! PS: Grant Jerrett is ineligible for the list due to he remains unsigned with the Thunder.

#6 – Reggie Jackson

NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder at Milwaukee Bucks

It’s wild how one season makes a complete difference for a player. In the case of Reggie Jackson, the difference between 2011-12 and the 2012-13 season is almost night and day. After being replaced and reduced to a third-string role after he failed to meet expectations after Eric Maynor went down with the knee injury. He had to step up again, despite the worrying of Thunder nation. Especially when Russell Westbrook went down with an injury in the 2013 playoffs, he had to step up, and boy did he step up.

It’s amazing what a training camp could help a player’s development. He’s continuing to grow as a player, and we saw that in the summer league. We watched him take charge, and really show a real scoring initiative that Oklahoma City needs coming into the season.

That’s why Jackson comes into the Thunder rank at seventh. His ability to create his shot and get to the rim sets him apart from other role players on the Thunder rotation. One thing that really gets everyone excited is that he’s working on his offense.

His youth and very high ceiling is what keeps him so high on the ceiling. Throughout the ranking list, it wasn’t very close from Jeremy Lamb to Jackson. However, Jackson’s experience on the court over Lamb’s expectations that really was one of the main reasons why he was favored over Lamb.

One thing that could really improve immensely for Jackson is his three-point shot and his defense. He at times can be a big defensive liability. Seems every year that a part of his game gets better, and these are the areas he’ll look to improve throughout the season in these areas.

There is a lot of expectations coming on Jackson this season. He’s had high expectations in the past, and had mixed results. Jackson could be a great sixth man, or he could be just another bad draft pick that came through this organization.

Jackson has shades of James Harden when he attacks the rim. There is a lot of growth, and he continues to get better, through each game. I won’t be very long before Jackson will be a lot higher on the list. It’s up to Jackson on how high he will go on this list.
