Last time: The Thunder beat the Hawks 111-104 about the same time last year. (March 4, 2011)
Well, Atlanta is banged up. Doesn’t look like Joe Johnson or Willie Green is going to play. The Hawks, due to the injuries, are slumping right now. They did beat the Milwaukee Bucks last night 99-94, even without Joe Johnson and company. Hawks are 4-6 in their last 10 games. Atlanta is still talented, they have Kirk Hinrich and Joe Smith. Not to mention Marvin Williams is a productable player in this league.
Oklahoma City really used the day off to their advantage. The way the team has played, they had to be a little tired. They’re rested though, especially Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
Looks like Westbrook is a game time decision (sprained ankle). Look for Ivey or Harden to start if Westbrook is unable to go.
Keys to the game
The Hawks rank 16th in field goal percentage. Oklahoma City is fifth in defensive field goal percentage. With the injuries to Atlanta, if OKC could force them into difficult shots and keep the score low, I’m sure OKC could have a chance to win this game easily.
Reggie Jackson, James Harden and Royal Ivey is the second string back court. They need to step up, especially if Westbrook is unable to go. There isn’t a lot of doubt in Nick Collison or Nazr Mohammed. Well, not from my end. We’ll see if they’re able to keep up.
Three Point shooting
The Hawks are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league, OKC is middle of the road. OKC is actually really bad on the road shooting three pointers. We’ll see which deep shooting Thunder team comes to play tonight.
