Thunder are coming off a nice win in Dallas in their first preseason game. Kevin Durant played lights out. He had 21 points in 23 minutes. That’s near perfection. He had two blemishes. A missed three point shot and four turnovers. Honestly, I had to dig into the stat book to find those.

Jason Kidd said he is going to play tonight. Still no word on whether or not Dirk Nowtizki will play. He might be a game time decision. Coach Rick Carslile said he would like to rest his stars before they start a brutal stretch to start the season.

Update: Dirk will start

News Flash to Rick Carslile, everyone has a tough stretch to start the season.

Here are some things I think the Thunder should touch up in their final preseason game:

Turnovers

Yeah, I twas just a preseason game, however, the Thunder turned the ball over 25 times. That’s unacceptable for any NBA team. Even in a preseason game. Some of those turnovers sparked a 17-0 run by the Mavs, allowing them to cut the lead all the way to five points in the fourth quarter. A lot of it was just careless passing. Trying to force it too much. Things that can easily be fixed. Which, makes this an easy point to get across.

Interior Defense

If Dirk does play. Ibaka needs to play better. He played very poorly in his first outing. I’m sure he’s looking to improve off that (you can only improve from what he did). Thunder allowed 36 points in the paint to Brenden Haywood and company, without Nowitzki. They’ll have to really turn up the interior intensity if they don’t want to get dominated.

Half court offense

Thunder are one of the best teams in the league while in transition. However, offense was stale in the half court. This is when a lot of their turnovers happened. They’ll get sit in their offense and just basically stand there. The ball movement was a lot better. The player movement must improve. I’m sure being at home for the first time in 7 months may help that a bit.
